800mm Dora Railgun
The 800mm Dora railgun (no, not the Quake 3 railgun) developed by the Germans in World War 2 was truly a feat of military weapon design and engineering. The image below (from Palpatine’s site) clearly shows the enormous scale of this massive weapon. The soldiers look like ants next to this monster.

You really need to view the photos to appreciate the size of the Dora – Even the shell fired by this gun is at least 1.5 – 2 times taller than the average human.
