WinSPWW2 and WinSPMBT are two free turn-based wargames developed by SP Camo Workshop and based on the venerable Steel Panthers 2 engine.

WinSPWW2 and WinSPMBT primarily focus on mechanized warfare (with air and artillery suppport) from 1930 to 1945 and 1946 to 2020 respectively. (post WW2)

WinSPMBT (currently 3.0) has 184 scenarios and 11 campaigns. You can also choose up to 119 countries to generate random single battles.

WinSPWW2 (1.1B) has 345 scenarios and 9 campaigns and 30 countries to choose for single battles.

Both are very good games for players interested in realistic mechanized warfare. The interface is clean and functional but like all wargames, reading the manual will help you in your games.

Personally, I find WinSPMBT easier to play than WinSPWW2 because of the technological advancements in mechanized warfare in the post-WW2 era. When you choose a battle between two technologically mismatched forces like in the WinSPMBT tutorial, the technologically superior force will usually win due to better accuracy at long range (especially in open terrain e.g deserts), better weapon and equipment (e.g thermal sights to see through smoke) WinSPMBT is also faster-paced due to the faster tanks and higher availabilty of self-propelled artillery units).

WinSPWW2 relies a lot more on tactics because WW2 tanks were not very accurate on the move and tank gun ranges were lower. Proper use of smoke, correct facing (frontal armor can resist certain shots) and careful scouting for enemy forces is essential.
