Namco X Capcom Official Wallpapers

Below are some of the official wallpapers by MonolithSoft, the Japanese developer of the 2005 PS2 RPG game, Namco X Capcom. There is a total of 9 wallpapers available for download (from 800×600 to 1280×1024).

Love the design for the two characters in the first two wallpapers. Please leave a comment if you knows which Namco or Capcom game these two characrers originated from?

UPDATE (21 Sep 2008) : Above link is now dead – my own collection of four 1024×768 wallpapers can be found here.

BTW, the track Brave New World composed by Yuzo Koshiro and performed by flair for Namco x Capcom is excellent, especially the piano version – breezy J-pop fluff :) .

Do you have the 1280×720 wallpapers for all 9 nine of them? Also, the link to their website doesn’t work. If possible can you send them to me? I would like to have them. Thanks

Hi Dexter – I just found my Namco X Capcom wallpapers. They’re now up here.

Unfortunately, there’s only 4 of them in my collection and all in 1024×768 resolution only. Sorry about that.

I searched not too long, but long enough (Estimated time: 30 Minutes – 1 Hour). I found the rest of the wallpapers at this Chinese website/forum.

    http://www.gaforum.org/showpost.php?p=5352477&postcount=213

(Accumulatively there are 10 wallpapers. The average image size is 513.3 Kb/s)
(Click on the pictures to enlarge them to normal view)

I aquired all of them, so if this link ever dies just reply and i’ll post them somewhere.

I hope you enjoy the images as much as I did. That goes quadruple for this wonderful game. (Assuming you have played it.)

(A “Very Special” thanks to “recca” on gaforum for generously posting these.)

Not an inconvenience at all, I’m fulfilled that I could help you yourself Roys or anyone else. I forgot to mention the resolution of the images, which are 1280×720.

I couldn’t find any lower resolutions. To view these correctly you will have to change your screen’s resolution to 1280×720 or above. (I know this is common knowledge to most, but you would be surprised how much it isn’t to some people)

I overlooked your first comment asking “if you know which Namco or Capcom game these two characrers originated from?”

You might know by now given it is near two years since you first asked this question.

They are the main protagonists in Namco X Capcom. Namco created these two characters specifically for Namco X Capcom. Which means they originated in this game in 2005. The male protagonist, his name is “Reiji Arisu”.

Moving on the female protagonist who is often seen together with Reiji, her name is “Shaomu” (Some spell it as “Xiaomu”, however in the game, it was “Shaomu”)

Reiji has a mostly serious personality, unlike Shaomu who is totally the opposite. She often pokes fun at Reiji alot. Here are examples of the dialogue between the two during the game.

Shaomu: “Oh, and here they are!
Scythe-Weasels, huh? Talk about your puny monsters.
These bozos aren’t worth me breaking a sweat. Reiji, move your ass
    and wreck ‘em.”

    Reiji “What the hell?”

Shaomu: “Look, I haven’t had breakfast yet, see? I’ll be grabbing a snack at
that restaurant over there, so just come and find me when you’re done.”

    Here is another example.

    Reiji: “What the-?!”

Shaomu: “The bullet went right through! Meaning this is a spiritual type without a physical body. Yo, Reiji! Quit using the cheap-ass ammo!”

Reiji: ” Hey, unlike a certain someone I know I don’t pull crap like that.
I’m already loaded with Anti-Spirit rounds.

Shaomu, even though she makes light of reiji quite often, she at times defends him as well. An example of this was when Saya (Reiji’s main protagonist. She is a female, and part fox (animal); similar, but not exactly the same as Shaomu) brought up the incident about his father. This encounter upset Reiji significantly, which caused Shaomu to try her best to console him.

I would say more but I don’t want to ruin the game for those that have not played it.

I hope that helped you out Roys; if you still did not know much about Reiji and/or Shaomu.

Hey Kosmos, thanks for the info.

I don’t own any console so I usually download the wallpapers of those games that have cool characters and leave it at that :(

The two deviantART artists you pointed out at the end are pretty good too, BTW do you regularly spend a lot of time trawling through DA for artworks and stuff?

  9. KOS-MOS UNITED STATES, Friday, January 2nd, 2009, 5:12 pm

Hi (again) Roys, I appologize for the late response. No, I am not ususally on DA much. To be honest I found those two illustrations of Shaomu and Reiji by mistake.

However, some of the time I search for art surrounding my interest of Japanese gaming. Japanese Fighing & Role Playing Games are my two favorites by far.

The most recent Japanese game I have started playing is “Fate/Unlimited Codes”
It is one of the most impressive fighters I’ve played in 2008. The combinations of each fighter are very detailed and unique. Each character has their own sense of style, which can be lost in some fighters.

I suppose I’m somewhat biased because I am a fan of “Fate/Stay Night” which is a Japanese computer game that arrived in 2004, which, as a result of its high popularity, was quickly released into an anime series in 2006.

The website of the game can be found here

The company’s site who invented “Fate” can be found here.

I have to be going now. Nice texteing with you again Roys.

    Hi Kos-mos,

A happy (belated) new year to you too :)

Just got back and those wallpaper links are nice. Will be featuring them soon.

BTW, Creative Uncut may interest you :)

  11. KOS-MOS UNITED STATES, Friday, July 31st, 2009, 11:13 pm

Hello Roys my humble appologies for the very late response. I could not remember the link to the site; I thought I bookmarked it but I did not (It is a long story). Thank you for the New Year blessings; I realize that it is somewhat strange now since this year is more than halway done. I am elated that you liked the Fate Walls; I was not sure that you would. About the Namco X Capcom images, there were four more wallpapers released by MonolithSoft that were not on this site or gaforum. I made a rar file of all the Walls including the four previously stated. I made five sizes of each image (640×480, 800×600, 1024×768, 1280×1024, 1600×1200) to try to please people with variety since preferences are different.

    Here is the link

I hope that you enjoy the four new walls.

Since you like the Fate walls I will have to gather more links of video game art you might be interested in. The next time you read from me I will have them.

I almost forgot, thank you for the Creative Uncut link; it did interest me greatly.

Hope to read from you soon. Bye.

Hi KOS-MOS, got the file – it’s 50.8 MB but the password seems to be wrong or the file might be corrupt.

  13. KOS-MOS UNITED STATES, Thursday, August 6th, 2009, 9:11 am

Sorry about that; I was so busy that day. After uploading it I did not download it to make sure it was error free. I reuploaded the file then downloaded it to test if it worked properly; it does. Here is the new link:

Again my appologies, I should have been more thorough when I hosted the file.

Thank you Roys for pointing out my mishap. Later and this time enjoy the files. (Hopefully; lol)
