Something interesting today for anime artwork fans.

Warren Louw is an excellent artist hailing from Johannesburg, South Africa. What first attracted me to his artwork was the hair styles for his character designs . The hair designs for almost all of Warren’s work are impressive for their incredible attention to detail and realism :) Check these artworks Chain and Skai and Catherine. They remind me of the posters of real-life models that I see at trendy hair salons in SG :)

The reason I like his character designs as he is able to draw heavily anime-influenced characters like the ones above as well as those combining both anime influences (hair styling and costumes) and western comic designs (facial features and eyes) like Eri (left) and Forbidden (right) below.

Rui and Andrea (see below) are also two excellent character designs especially those into Final Fantasy style characters. I love the costume design for these two characters (very King of Fighters like) as well the detail on Rui’s sword hilt. By the way, Tetsuya Nomura, the Japanese illustrator for the Final Fantasy series, is cited as one of Warren’s influences.

My favourite has to be Project: Sherri. This artwork has to be seen to be believed. The entire artwork is impressive from the facial features (check out the eyes and hair) to the highly-detailed sci-fi costume and sword.
