Into the Pixel 2006 – Computer and Video Game Art Exhibition

Here’s a peek into the game artwork submitted for last year’s Into The Pixel exhibition in May 2006, a joint effort by E3, Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences and the LA County Museum of Art, to celebrate computer and video game art.

High-resolution versions of the 16 art pieces featured on the official E3 site @ E3 Insider are available by clicking on the thumbnails on the site.

Most of the artwork are concept artwork of various game worlds, my favourites being Chicago Train Graveyard by Stephan Martiniere for the upcoming John Woo’s Stranglehold game and Into The Frey by Daryl Mandryk for Turok. (Dinosaurs!!!).

My absolute favourite of the 16 is In the Garden of Eva by Yuji Shinkawa for Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. I didn’t realize that the seemingly haphazard red brushstrokes concealed two images of Solid Snake at first :)
