S.T.A.L.K.E.R : Shadows over Chernobyl Wallpapers
I’m a huge fan of game characters with gas masks, especially the Russian gas masks with the characteristic snout-like tubing. The exterior appearance of these gas masks provides a sinister alien look to the wearer (and probably also a sense of gloom and claustrophobia at the same due to the limited visibility from behind a gas mask :p
Anyway, here’s the official wallpapers for the recently released FPS Stalker : The Shadow of Chernobyl below. Two high-resolution (800×600 to 1600×1200) wallpapers of gas mask-wearing characters

A lone Stalker wearing an GP-5 gas mask and armed with an AK-74M. A Mil Mi-24 ‘Hind-E’ is shown in the background

A trio of (Freedom?) stalkers hot on the trail of a single Dolg stalker armed with the AK-74M.
For Russian miltary enthusiasts, check out the four renders of Russian firearms – the Kora-919 (Colt 1911 in real-life), Thunder S14 (OC-14 Groza in real-life), Obokan (AN-94 Akaban in real-life) and AKM 74/2 (AK-74M in real-life). High resolution 3D renders of Russian firearms are pretty rare on the .NET so download them at the Art section if you’re interested.

SOrry mate, thats not a GP-5 in the first picture. Its a GP-2.I got both so i know the differances.Good Job for the weapons names.
Hi TheFasm4, you’re a gas mask collector? I thought the GP-2 only had a simple air filter?
Indeed nice pictures of masks, but don’t forget that in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. we are in 2012.Probably older versions of masks have been innovated, with added tubes and filters that could protect from the new fallout.
No, I am no collector.Just a researcher of military equipment.
You can find lots of up-to-date gas masks here: http://www.approvedgasmasks.com/mask-gas.htm
The prices are high, but their equipment works.
Good Job, once more.
Researcher of military equipment? You can count me as one too – an amateur enthusiast that is.
That is good, we all started there.
So your maina focus is on gas masks? Mine is mainly armoured vehicles and military history
Nah, i prefer things that explode.C4, Semtex, Dynamite, Phosphorus etc or good ol’ fationed artillery (105 etc) and mortars.
Ofcourse im interested in everything.A nice all chrome Colt 1911 45. will never go old ye?
Btw how old are you?And where are you from?
Ah I see – pyrotechnics eh? Me, 28 years old from sunny Singapore (at the tip of the Malaysian Peninsula)
Hahaha Singapore yah?Nice.
Im 17 from the equally sunny, Greece.I know im kinda young for a researcher but i ve done my homework and i keep doing it everyday.
If you need any help tracking anything, ask for it.If i cant find it, it aint there.;)
Sure, I’ll keep that in mind
Let me know too if you need to find anything, I love hunting for obscure and not-so-obscure stuff on the net, that’s why I started this site
I’m pretty young for my age to be wanting too know about weapons and it’s uses and all that stuff. but since you guys seem too know alot about weapons or all that stuff. but do any of you know if it would be weird to buy a gas mask online? or would the goverment take as a thing that I might need it for illegal stuff…..I’m just a fan of the way Gas mask’s look. I own one. but wanting too know if i would be able to buy one…
btw.
sorry for the long comment LOL!
Of course you could buy one. It’s considered something used for personal protection and not for illegal use.
You can find plenty of Gas Masks in: http://www.Ebay.com
http://www.approvedgasmasks.com/mask-gas.htm
http://www.amazon.com
Since you want something just for the looks, i would advise you to check older versions of Russian gas (GP-5, GP-6) masks since they are cheaper.Don’t expect to be saved in the case of a chemical attack, but they are sure damn cool to look at.
You can also check some older Iraqi gas masks which are also cheap.
If that is too much for you, you can try some hardware stores for gas masks. They usually keep some types available since painters use them a lot.
Cheers.
