Art Friday : Mecha Image of The Day (miotd.com)
Mecha Image of The Day was a site I found recently while looking for technical lineart. While I didn’t really find what I was looking for at this site, I did find a lot of illustrations of mecha-related stuff like:

A very detailed Transformers artwork (not too sure about the original source of this artwork)

Battletech Mech technical lineart (Madcat shown above but there’s Loki and Vulture too)

High resolution Macross illustrations. Links are here, here, here, here and here.

Gundam illustrations. (RX-78-2 Gundam (above) here and Rick Dias (below) here).

And this classic Evangelion picture. Must have been drawn at least a decade back before the introduction of the M1 Abrams because the tanks in there are M60s (note externally mounted searchlights).

Major Motoko Kusanagi from the Ghost in The Shell series. (Just saw some Motoko Kusanagi wallpapers at Rendered Beauty quite a while back).
The good thing is that most of these pictures are at nearly 4:3 aspect ratio and so are perfect for the desktop.
In short if you love mecha, you gotta visit Mecha Image of The Day.

This is amazing. Great.
Great find. Love the Macross pics.
Thanks
@ Kenny, if you’re using widescreen monitors , this Flickr collection might be useful
More eyecandy coming up, assuming I have time to write about them
Fantastic. Especialy the mecha blueprint…
The Flickr collection rocks. Too bad my laptop is a normal 4:3 screen.
thanks roys for link.. impressive find.. though mecha still hasn’t settled in my psyche.. I do love the rx 78 2
Yep, the Transformers image and the blueprints are two of my favourites. I love cutaways and stuff
i feel i’ve missed out, not having a grounding in mecha… i’m making up for it but the process is slow.. still pick up chromehounds now and again… purely for the customisation options and testing my creations on the battlefield… (note to self) must play more
I started with Macross and Getter when I was a kid. Back then I didn’t know their names though - only found out thanks to Google Image Search
