Raiden Fighters – Classic Raiden fare.

Raiden Fighters 2 : Operation Helldive – Seems like it’s only a graphically upgraded version of Raiden Fighters from the look f it

Raiden Fighter Jet – Love the little details like the spinning propellers on the massive aircraft idling on the runway in this one but I doubt anyone seriously playing the game notices these kind of stuff while playing.
While the gameplay in the three games is pretty standard shooter fare with the prerequisite fuild animation, eye-watering weapon and explosion effects, what kept me glued to the entire 3 minutes of this trailer was the incredible reflexes of the player being recorded in the video – or was it just a pre-programmed demo?
By the way, if you’re itching for some Raiden action on your PC, there’s a pretty faithful fan-made Flash version of Raiden which you can play online – RaidenX – enjoy!
Download the trailer from Gametrailers (Quicktime or WMV) or the Raiden Fighter Aces (WMV only) site.

Oh, how I absolutely love Raiden! It’s mu favourite shoot-’em-up you know and must have spent billions on pocket money illegally (I was underag you see) playing it in the arcades…
Raiden x is pretty nice too, though quite frankly a tad too easy.
Great post!
Yep, Raiden is one of the more distinctive shooters out there – the purple weapon power-up with the homing laser left a lasting impression on me the first time I saw it – can’t remember which game that was though.
Agree with you on RaidenX, i think the sparser background helps you keep an eye on the enemy. Try the harder difficulty settings, I heard that the defult one is pretty easy
Hmmm…. I’ll give it a shot…
Now, regarding power-ups, I always stuck with the red ones and the M missiles. After all it was the original first game I mastered… Gotta find the Lynx version methinks.
Me? I’m a absolute sucker for that wiggly purple laser beam. I’m not too good at this kind of games though I love watching experts playing them – Strikers 1945 II is my favourite arcade shoot-em-up of all time
