Military Tuesday : Renders of WWII Battleships from Navyfield : Resurrection of the Steel Fleet
Desktop wallpapers of some famous WWII warships for the free-to-play online game Navyfield : Resurrection of the Steel Fleet, described by its creators SD Enternet as a Massively Multiplayer Online Tactics Simulator (MMOTS). The 3D models of four warships are rendered like real-life scale models complete with display stands and comprise the Japanese batttleships Yamato and Fuso, the British battlecruiser HMS Hood and the American battleship USS New Mexico. Interestingly enough, there’s no sign of the German battleship Bismarck in any of the wallpapers probably due to the prominent Nazi swastikas painted on the fore and aft deck of the actual battleship.

It’s a pity that 1280×1024 is the maximum resolution available for these wallpapers as a higher resolution would reveal much more detail in these beautifully modelled ships
Some of the other wallpapers featuring warships in action.

To bad about the resolution (1920×1200) would be better. But I wouldnt use them anyway because there is only 1 navy I’m interested in: the german navy.
I love the books by Gerhard Koop:

Lots and lots of pictures in is books about the big(ger) german battleships.
In the game Call of Duty (1) there is a level where you can walk al over the Tirpitz. Needles to say that that was my favorite level.
Hmm, my military books of choice would be the Osprey New Vanguard series
I’ll see if I can find Gerhard Koop’s books at my local library
