Art Friday : Myth and History Lessons, Genzoman Style!
Gonzalo Ordonez is one truly prolific artist of mythical and historical personages. A significant portion of his works adorn the cards of the Chilean collectible card game Myths and Legends and according to the official site, there’re already 27 editions for this CCG!
Scores of mythical characters from various cultures can be found in his deviantART gallery where he’s better known as Genzoman. There are mighty gods and heroes from well-known Greek mythology to lesser known (but no less interesting) characters from Inca mythology, Middle Eastern lore and medieval epics among others.

Ninigi no Mikoto, grandson of the Japanese Sun goddess Amaterasu. Quoted from jref.com :
The Japanese Imperial family is said to descend in straight line from this august grandchild of Goddess Amaterasu, things they haven’t disproved yet, and that many older Japanese still believe firmly.

Granted, these colourful depictions aren’t the most accurate illustrations of their historical or mythical counterparts but if they don’t simulate your interest in mythology and history, I have little doubt that anything else can

He’s got some fine (sorry “foine”) content on his page. Dang. I’ve seen his work before, have you featured him in an earlier post?
That’s a pretty boobalicious Athena there. Not exactly what I picture when I think of the virgin goddess of wisdom.
Yep, I previously featured his work on the post about the free Artzmania e-magazines
Nice!
I can see he used some design ideas for Achilles from the movie TROY… Very cool look.
Glad that you liked it. He’s rather prolific too – I think I must have collected over 50+ of his artworks over a few months period
