Games Thursday : Write Reviews & Win Good Old Games

Thanks to Gnome’s glowing recommendation of GoG.com last December, I now have another new obssession writing reviews for Good Old Games. CD Projekt, the Polish game developer and publisher (remember The Witcher?) runs Good Old Games at GoG.com which specializes in selling digital downloads of DRM-free classic games – think Fallout 2, Jagged Alliance 2, etc.

Being the (rather) mercenary character that I am, there’s a catch to this brand new pastime. You see, GOG.com offers a prize for the winners of each weekly review contest. Registered members can submit a review for the newly released games of each week and the chosen review for each game wins the writer a free game of their choice from the Good Old Games catalogue. Each game is DRM-free as mentioned above (no online activations and no restrictions!), guaranteed to work on Windows XP and Vista and costs only a mere 5.99 USD or 9.99 USD each (writing reviews for games selling cheaper than cinema tickets … tsk, tsk … how cheapskate  )

Check out the current game catalogue at Good Old Games and remember to subscribe to their RSS feed for weekly promos and additions to the catalogue. Or read my first review for Stronghold :P

Haven’t really found a must-buy game yet I’m afraid but with the weekly additions to the catalogue, I’m sure that I’ll eventually find that must-have game in my wishlist on GOG :)

Not even Waxworks? Or Simon the Sorcerer?

Not really, I’m more into tactical, FPS and racing games – point n’ click and adventures use too much brainpower – not that keen to expend brainpower on weekends since I already use a lot during weekdays at work.
