Random Monday : Favourites for Baltimore’s Golden Demon Awards 2007
Below are 5 of my favourites from the award winners for Baltimore’s Golden Demon Awards 2007 on 23 June 2007.
Winner of BOTH the Slayer Sword and Warhammer 40,000 Single Miniature - Natalya Melnik’s Dark Angels Company Master. Natalya also won awards in the Warhammer 40,000 Squad and Warhammer Single Miniature and The Lord of The Rings Group or Large categories.

Steve Fields’s Offal, Lord of Plagues, was awarded Gold for Staff Large Model category. A very unique looking Great Unclean One with Greek provocator-style gladiator armour.

Andrew Wylie’s Centaur Artillery Tractor named Forgeworld’s Best of Show, is very impressive with the rusted, about-to-fall-to-bits look.

Scott Bowser’s Harlequins is also a favourite because I love the new Harlequins miniatures especially the Solitaire and Shadowseer ones.

Beastlord and Retinue by Bennett Blalock-Doane, Gold winner of the Warhammer Regiment Category, is one of the rare Beasts of Chaos dioramas that I actually like

Honorable Mention
Mark E. Williams’s Inquisitor Lord, a Honorable Mention for Warhammer 40,000 Single Miniature category.

Even if none of the above interests you, the Baltimore 2007 Golden Demon Awards is still a must visit if only for one thing - Chris Stevens’s Pig Waggun, Silver winner for the Warhammer Large Model category featuring the very original Orcs in kilts

Hey Munkey. There are also some new pics of the new Chaos 40K releases in the sidebar (nice promo style paint jobs). As well under the tournament tab there are pictures of tournament armies. Most of those are hard to make out though.
FYI. The Slayer Sword is awarded to one of the winners in any category. It is kind of a “best in show” award that goes along with a category win. She’s won a few times if I recall correctly.
The nurgle conversion is just amazing… Ah, how I’d love to have the time to go back into modlling and painting minis…
Thanks, e for your comments - everytime I post a Golden Demon article, I learn something new
And gnome, I like the nurgle one a lot too (actually I love the armor more - it’s quite historically accurate to boot)
Hey Munkey. Thank you for keeping me updated on Warhammer art both 2D and 3D. I don’t check the Games Workshop sites much anymore but I LOVE well painted minis.
The US GW isn’t the only GW site in the world though you know. Check out http://ca.games-workshop.com/Community/Events_Coverage/events_coverage.htm for Canadian coverage.
There are also Golden Daemon’s for other countries. Check out
http://gamesday.us.games-workshop.com/goldendemonindex/Default.htm and scroll down. They don’t paint like us English speaking folk. Damn they are good. Case in point:

How do you like you 2nd place?:

Wow, and it goes on.
Enjoy!
Thanks again, e
I’m sifting through them now. Lots of great stuff you found there.
I usually check the US, UK & Australian GW sites each week but only the US site seems to place much emphasis on the Golden Demons.
About the miniatures you listed, I enjoy the Spanish minis a lot - especially the first one - mmm Chaos stuff
Oh, yes, lovely links “e”…
Whoops! I guess the Spanish don’t like direct links.
