People’s Tactics is a free turn-based wargame for single player (one campaign and several scenarios) or multiplayer via hotseat or PBEM.

Units can be created by assigning occupied cities to produce units such as infantry, armor, artillery, anti-air, airplanes, ships etc. Units are then assigned to a formation (Up to 4 different types of units per formation with certain restrictions)

Formations must be assigned to a regional HQ which will manage supply distributed by a higher level strategic level. Low or no supply will reduce a formation’s readiness which in turn affects combat ability. Supply modelling is pretty simple so you can concentrate on combat.

Research on new units and unit upgrades can be also done to give your forces the technological edge. The game is based around WW2 technology so anti-tank and anti-infantry guns are still relevant to your unit mix and armor is not overwhelmingly strong as now.

I like this game for its low learning curve . It’s easy to pick up and play especially for the first two missions of the campaign. I’m currently still stuck on the third mission for the campaign because I tend to be overly defensive and slow on the offensive, allowing the enemy to build up an overwhelming force against me.

Tactics also involve tweaking the unit mix and city production. Should you build trucks to motorize your infantry making them more mobile to catch up with armor or create more armor and airplanes to quickly smash through enemy lines? Should you create a smaller force with more powerful medium tanks or a larger force of light tanks?

If you like operational wargames or a faster-paced wargame without much number-crunching, do download and try this game at People’s Tactics official site here.
