Digipen Games (I) - Toblo

DigiPen Institute of Technology is probably one of the more well-known game development institutes in the world. It has a download page here where you can download playable versions of students’ work.

I’ve downloaded many of them (up to the 2005/2006) and there are some really good games there. I will attempt to write reviews of the better ones or at least link to reviews by others.

For a start, try Toblo (read gHacks review here). It’s a single-player / multiplayable Capture The Flag type of game between a team of angels and devils in a physics-enabled world. The fortress protecting the flags and scenic objects like trees are made of blocks which players can pick up and throw at each other or at other objects (I love destroying the enemy fortress with blocks - heh heh!).

The graphics are cute and whimsical. Should be very fun in a LAN game (haven’t tried it out though as I like to play single-player games against the competent AI).

Some of the games from the 2006/2007 are already ready for download here.
