Art Friday : Warhammer 40,000 Papercraft

Either there is a growing community of papercraft modellers who are getting into the Warhammer 40,000 universe or it’s the other way round :) Sorry about not posting photos of the actual finished models – I collect tons of these papercraft plans but I never seem to find time to print and assemble them. There’re photos at the always awesome Papercraft Paradise where I saw these models.

&

First is a 35cm tall Space Marine paper model by BlueDragon over at Action Papercraft. A smaller 22cm tall Space Marine designed by Niebie is also available at the same site. A free Pepakura Viewer is required to view the PDO files.

&

Next is a magnificent Space Marine Dreadnought by Tomas Lukacovic with the choice of either Blood Angels or Ultramarines colours – purity seals sold separately. 280+(!) parts make up the main body with 50+ parts for the Assault Cannon, Lascannon, Power Fist or Flamer arms each.

Download these Space Marine papercraft plans here and here and the Space Marine Dreadnought (two files – FINAL.zip contains the body and Assault Cannon, Power Fist and Flamer arms, FINAL2.zip contains the Lascannon arms).

Art Friday : Hoophy Paper Toys by Shin Tanaka

Caught these updates to Shin Tanaka’s series of Hoophy paper toys during my monthly visit to my list of bookmarked websites. Four new designs by David Flores, Superdeux, David Horvath and Skwak (my favourite!) have been released for download. If you’re a fan of his Spiky Baby or Mask Hoody paper toy series, I’ll sure you’ll love these :)

The links to the first two templates illustrated by Shin Tanaka himself have been removed from the official site but you can still catch the direct links to these two PDFs by entering the Google search string below:

Military Tuesday : Julescrafter – Military Papercraft

Found Julius Perdana’s aka Julescrafter‘s site while loooking for UFOS quite a while back.

While UFOs definitely don’t make a Military Tuesday post no matter what you say about WWII German wunderwaffen, conspiracy theories about Area-51 or even the USAF’s Project Blue Book in the 1960s but Julius’ papercraft models of armored fighting vehicles do make a worthwhile post.

A FV101 Scorpion light tank model can be downloaded from Julescrafter.com for free as well as a model of a mythical and supposedly WWII-vintage Haunebu II flying saucer in German field grey.

The plans for other vehicles can be had for a small fee. Here’s a preview of some of the papercraft armour models available for purchase.

A Russian BMP-2M. My favourite model because of the turret detail.

Art Friday : Marvelous Papercraft – Boxpunx by Harlancore + Friends

Don’t know how I missed out on the first series of these cheeky Boxpunx by Harlancore and friends when both series were announced on Cubeelog. The first series by Harlancore + Scorpidio features the X-Men (not too sure about the inclusion of Spider-Man though) and the second by Harlancore + Esteban showcases a selection of 12 other superheroes and villains from the Marvel universe.

The villains Magneto and blue-skinned Mystique are my favourites. Would have loved to see big bad Juggernaut though :D

The Punisher looks awesome and so do Daredevil and Nick Fury. Hopefully we’ll get to see Venom and Deadpool in Series Three (crosses fingers :) )

Download BoxPunx Series 1 (X-Men) and BoxPunx Series 2 (Marvel).

Art Friday: Sheila Mertens’ Lifesized Papercraft Medieval Weapons

I’ve seen papercraft designers that make some awesome papercraft weapons like this M41A Pulse Rifle from the Alien movies and assorted firearms but this is the first time I have seen 1:1 scale papercraft melee weapons.

© Sheila Mertens

Live out your medieval fantasy with these papercraft plans created by Sheila Mertens for a sword, axe, flanged mace and even a morning star on a flail. I think the 1:1 scale of these models should also prove useful for cosplayers.

© Sheila Mertens

Sheila’s most impressive creation must be this 1:25 model of a trebuchet, a massive medieval siege engine. 21 pages of plans make up this fully working model which will actually fire projectiles. As Sheila explains in the PDF, it isn’t intended to be a fully functional replica as the thick paper used in the construction cannot withstand the operational forces involved in sustained firing.
